Where You Look Is What You See
Today, while walking by State and Madison, I had one of those simple moments that felt kind of big. I was moving through the usual Chicago: cars honking, people rushing, signs flashing.
Everything at eye level was loud, crowded, and busy. It felt like the world was yelling.
Then, I happened to lift my head.
And just like that, everything changed. Above the noise, there were tall trees swaying, birds singing, the sky stretching blue. It was peaceful. Quiet. Beautiful. Same walk, same place: but a totally different world, just a few feet higher.
It hit me. Our days are kind of like that. Life can feel overwhelming when we’re stuck looking at the noise. But we always have the choice to look up and to notice the calm above the chaos.
Sometimes peace isn’t far away: it’s just a matter of where we choose to look.
