The Fine Line My Friends Love to Cross (Regularly) 😂
I was about to leave work, mindlessly scrolling through my phone, when I hopped onto the group chat with my old school friends from Nasra.
It had become a daily ritual: checking in, roasting each other, and discussing absolutely nothing of significance for extended periods of time. That’s the beauty of old friendships; they don’t require a purpose, just presence.
Among us, there’s always that one friend: everyone loves him, but he has the uncanny ability to say the dumbest things at the worst times. yet always managing to be funny in the most ridiculous way. And as always, he didn’t disappoint.
Today, the topic of discussion quickly shifted to my daily blog. I had been writing consistently, putting my thoughts out into the world, hoping to grow as a writer. Naturally, I was curious to hear what my friends thought. I should have known better.
His feedback? “It is good for wasting time.”
That was it. No elaboration. No constructive criticism. Just a brutally efficient, five-word review that had me questioning my entire existence.
Then, it hit me: maybe he wasn’t wrong. Maybe my blog was a good way to waste time. And maybe, just maybe, that wasn’t a bad thing.
In a world that constantly demands productivity, what's so wrong with offering people a moment to pause, laugh, or reflect? Entertainment is an art, and if my writing gave someone a break from their routine, even unintentionally, then I had done my job.
The key is to take what helps, laugh at what doesn’t, and keep going. And if I can turn even the most bizarre critique into motivation, then nothing can slow me down.
After all, even the greatest idea probably started with someone saying, “This will never work.”
Anyway, I’ll call you later, my friend, to unleash a fine selection of colorful profanity: ‘Because you’ve truly earned it’ 😁
